Coffee shops can be found on just about every street corner in every city… just look at Starbucks — you can’t go half a block without passing one! But truly personalized and specialized coffee houses seem to becoming a thing of the past. It is often hard to find a relaxing and inviting place where you don’t have to yell over the noise of the machines and crowds. It kinda ruins the whole atmosphere of a coffee shop if you ask me. But in Moscow, Idaho there are many unique coffee houses that each offer their own unique atmosphere. They are all located on Main Street, providing you with the opportunity to experiment with them all to find the coffee shop that fits you best.
Sister’s Brew is not your traditional coffee shop. With the eclectic feel of your kooky Aunt Thelma’s living room and Wi-Fi access, Sister’s has lots of seating, tables and even a meeting room you can reserve so that you can get your schoolwork done. For coffee lovers, Sister’s has over a dozen options to choose from. But for those of us who prefer to not feed their addiction, seasonal options are available, exotic teas, juices and Italian sodas. There’s no need to go home for lunch when you can purchase, bagels, sandwiches, muffins and even vegetarian options — so there’s no excuse not to study! But if you need a short break from the rigors of homework, they offer books to peruse, games to enjoy and local art to purchase during those times of a much needed break.
Bucer’s Coffee House Pub, pronounced Boot-zers for those out-of-towner’s, takes you back to the old world feel of an European Pub, but with the conveniences of modern technology and wireless Internet. With a friendly and family oriented staff, Bucer’s also provides a quiet work environment for those undergraduates, graduates and professors looking to get away from their desks while maintaining productivity. It could be argued they have some of the best coffee it town, but the foam leaf details they add to your cup of joe could make the difference! They offer books to browse and purchase should you desire as well as a smoking room for those gents (and ladies!) who like to sit back and relax with a cigar after a long day. With Panini’s that are out of this world and unique but excellent weekend performances, Bucer’s offers the University of Idaho community the opportunity to connect with their peers.
One World Cafe adds a little bit of hip with a little bit of hop! This modern yet relaxed coffee shop continues to draw new students each year. With rooms to reserve for those students that like peace and quite, One World also allows for old friends to catch up and enjoy the live music, poetry readings and other entertainment frequently featured. They import their coffee from a local grower and provide outdoor seating when the crazy north Idaho weather permits. With artwork, music and other delicious goodies to purchase, One World provides Moscow with a coffee shop to meet everyones needs (or desires)!
