ReadyCamp Unzip & Unwind!

IMG_3082

Camping + Glamour = SO popular that International Glamping Week is an actual thing! It’s happening!

So to celebrate, and as the Ambassador for ReadyCamp UK, it was only right and proper that we got under canvas recently to, well, UNZIP & UNWIND – in some serious style!  I LOVE getting under canvas and life in a tent makes me feel alive – enjoying a simpler existence in a hectic world.Ready Camp ReviewAs a writer for Family Traveller Magazine we’ve stayed in some incredible places around the world yet, every year, the kids cite our trips under canvas right up there in their holiday highlights. Why? Because they go feral, we chill out and life is just that bit stripped back for everyone!  I asked the kids for 3 words to sum up the clamping experience – FUN / ADVENTURE / COSY.  I’m passionate about getting my family outdoors, having quality time and encouraging others to do the same.

Which is why I recently took a week off from my weekday job at Heart Breakfast, to throw some bedding, towels and bikes in the car and head to Cannock Chase, one of 39 ReadyCamp options around the UK.  And THAT’S the beauty of this experience – it’s THAT easy.  The hard work is done for you so you can rock up and hit the ground running.  All the fun of camping with none of the faff! What’s not to love?

“ALL THE FUN WITHOUT THE FAFF”!

So what’s included?  Well, ReadyCamp famously state “everything but the kitchen sink” and that pretty much sums it up!  Sprung beds, fully equipped kitchen area, dining area and outdoor deck with chairs?  What more could you possibly want?  Arriving ready to camp means quality time together on our trips is max’d out!  I’d even managed to do a click & collect order at the local supermarket (*does a happy dance) and, having a regular sized under-counter fridge on a campsite was a complete revelation!

“EVERYTHING BUT THE KITCHEN SINK”!

Infact, throughout our stay we had people doing THAT slow walk past – you know the one when you’re totes pretending not to look but sneaking longing looks at the apparent luxury within the canvas?  THAT walk! Having slept on many a blow up mattress in the past, I almost invited them in for a drink and a cosy sit by the heater!

Cannock Chase Campsite is right on the Chase and, as an area of outstanding natural beauty, the perfect location for a week of chilling. Close enough to home for us to be a short drive away but far enough to feel like we were away from home, it provided the perfect backdrop for our week of re-connecting.

A couple of the days were spent at the brilliant Cannock Chase Visitor Centre which had perfect bike trails for small legs. There was also a Gruffalo Trail, Aventure Playground and Den Building area. Some days, we just chilled by the tent, glass in one hand, book in the other.

Ready Camp Review

In some recent research, ReadyCamp discovered that many kids in the UK spend less than 1 hour outside at weekends and parents feel the pressure to check work emails, even when on holiday or off at the weekend. I can SO relate!  The pressure to be available is huge so, in a bid to turn the statistics on their head we left our screens at home for our trip.  And you know what?  We were ALL liberated by the experience!  When I announced to the kids that the iPads were staying at home, they were excited! No screens, no To-Do lists – just each other.

“DISCONNECT TO RE-CONNECT”

I recently hosted a Blogger Day at another of the sites to discuss the research findings which you can check out on the Ready Camp Facebook Page – so much fun with some lovely, like minded souls! Ready Camp ReviewPlus – on the page there’s a competition running until the end of June giving you the chance to win my FAVE Escape bag from Southwood Stores which I use on short trips away from home.  Because, deep down, all any of us really want to do is ESCAPE the pressures of everyday life.

Get entering – you know you want to!  And happy clamping!

I love it! It’s not the camping that’s hard work, it’s the packing either side – this is perfect x
