Fresh at 4

This month, it’s been all about …Heart Breakfast.

Ah – a breakfast show”? I hear you cry “6 till 10 am, that’s an early start”!  Ah, if only my friend, if only!  Because this was also the month that kicked off my life of 4 am alarms.  *waits for the reality to sink in

Aside from a 2.30 am start for Good Morning Britain and early pick-ups for This Morning, I haven’t seen this time of day on a regular basis since Akira was a baby.  Getting up early is a massive change and I am missing my morning school run madness with the kids but for me it’s all about viewing things positively.  It’s happening – so may as well make life as lovely as possible.

There are lots of F Words you could associate with Four AM I’m thinking of all the positive ones!

Trey and my babies are always at the centre of everything I do so on my new “desk” I’ve got pictures of us all which makes me smile, plus a framed Love, Laugh, Live card they gave me when I started my new job. *sobs

I had to get a few new bits for work, since I need to know I’m happy with what I’m wearing and comfy in it too!  I know people think “it’s radio and nobody sees you”  but for me it’s all about feeling right. If I rock up to work in my PJ’s – true – nobody would know, but I would feel like I was going to bed, not waking people up!

I’m a huge fan of distressed jeans at the moment – my staple faves are these blue ones I got in the summer from American Eagle when we were in Texas and they’ve now opened a store over here in Lonodn’s Westfields – happy days!  I also picked up a great black pair from New Look which are beyond comfy and flattering AND have stretch in them.  Enough said!

And finally, these gorgeous fringed boots from New Look are my current obsession and I have them in black and brown.  I LOVE them!  Not only are they super comfy but I appear to be “on trrend”! *faints

I’ve long been a fan of juicing but I’ve never seen the benefits quite so obviously as I do now. I make an energy juice in the evening, then sip it throughout the show as my breakfast the next morning. My favourite is my Energizer Juice:  2 carrots, 2 apples, 2 oranges, Ginger.  Simples! Somehow it’s getting me through the morning with lots of energy!  I also like to alternate with Joe’s Mean Green Juice: 1 cucumber, 4 celery stalks, 2 apples, 6 kale leaves, 1/2 lemon, Ginger.

I heart Priori and their Perfecting Minerals make-up which goes on with a brush and not only lets your natural skin show through but lasts all day.  I put it on at 4am and then don’t need to worry about it the rest of the day.  No re-applying necessary – even to face the playground mafia on the afternoon school run. Love that!  Plus – it has an SPF in it and it’s the only thing that saves my skin getting dark pigment on sunshine holidays.  Just an FYI – I use number 3 as a base, and number 4 for shading.  It’s the best make up I’ve ever used.

I’ve been lucky enough to be sent some great new skincare to try out recently – both botanic based.

First up, Aurelia which is organic, probiotic AND British made.  What’s not to love? The range is divine and my favourite product is the Cell Repair Night Oil which smells amazing – like being on holiday!  It’s been re-charging my poor, tired skin overnight.   My lovely niece is called Aurelia, which is what drew me to the products in Liberty’s in the first place and the products have been every bit as amazing as I hoped.

FACEAnd RevaleSkin is well worth checking out. It contains Coffeeberry Whole Fruit Extract – one of natures most age defying anti-oxidants. My favourite product is the Intense Recovery Serum which keeps me feeing hydrated all day long.  It’s like a miracle in a pump and the range is a welcome addition to my bathroom cabinet.

For me, a bit of Fabulous has leapt into my life in the shape of this gorgeous “Matilda” bag – a “well done on the new gig” gift from the lovely ladies at Peach Pink London.  I LOVE it!  The Matilda is new to their range and just divine – big enough to fit my laptop in for work – and my make up bag, juice and everything else that’s coming with me to make the morning easier.  The metallic / black option adds a bit of glamour to my mornings and the padded insides keep all my electrical bits protected.  Pretty AND practical!  Perfect!

UntitledFaux Fur

I’m a bit in love with Asos and this Vintage Fur is floating my boat right now (and currently on sale!) Early mornings are COLD and this helps bring a bit of luxury into my life AND keeps me cosy! Being mentally prepared for sounding awake at 6am is all about how I feel – and this makes me feel FAB!

I’m lucky enough to be working with a long term friend, the gorgeous Stuart Miles and new friend, my Producer Jon Wyer, who is lovely.  We have a great team going on and it makes the early mornings SO much better when you really connect with the people you work with!   Another friend bonus – the lovely Hayley from BreatheHappiness blog lives just down the road from the studio –  she took the above pictures of me when we were messing around one day!  I’ve also been loving her cosy Hello sweatshirts from her Southwoodstores!  Just gorgeous.

Nothing like a bit of an inspirational to start my morning and my shower gel takes me to a far away place every morning!  Good luck with any early mornings you may encounter – through work, or babies or whatever!  It’s all about keeping it positive and finding the things that work for you and make that time of day bearable!

I get grumpy if my alarm is set to 6.59am so that early would kill me! Lovely to see that you are treating yourself and giving yourself an extra boost to compensate x

I could certainly think of one F word at 4am, however I love that you have embraced the early start and have found positive F words to get you through it. I must try your energiser juice as I’m not a morning person.

Lots of lovely F things, some great inspiration, thank you! Well done on the 4am start every day, do you think you will get used to it? I am not sure I could ever do it, but I guess you get to see a side of the world not many other people do at that time of day! 🙂
