So… I have news!
In 2015 my days of being woken at 4 am are set to return! *gulps
But no need to start sending baby grows as this time around my broken nights will be down to me and not a human I’ve created! Not as far as I know anyway!
No, this time it’s because (in best X-Factor booming announcer voice) I’m going to be co-presenting Heart Breakfast!
*sings a random jingle **realises “it sounds baaaaad” ***stops
Yup, 6 till 10 every Monday to Friday I’ll be on-air, oversharing (surely not?) and generally elaborating on my world.
I’m a huge fan of Heart and I’ve covered Heart Breakfast over the last few years, so when they asked if they could tempt me to do something longer term, I figured it could be fun. And with both kids now school, I’ve been slowly getting back into work so their question couldn’t have been better timed.
The best bit of all? I get to work with the gorgeous Stuart Miles, my old buddy from my BP days and just a generally lovely human being. Slightly dangerous, given the stories we know on each other (!) but he’ll be fun to wake up with. In the platonic sense of course!
We co-hosted together a bit in the summer and it totally felt as if no time had passed and I was reminded of an amazing quote:
True friendship isn’t about being inseparable
It’s when being separated that nothing changes
Nothing has changed! Like all great friendships, we just picked up where we left off. And yes, I’ll have to curb my “here’s a microphone” Instagram and Twitter habit – I realise that! I’m really looking forward to starting and I know the two of us, along with our super talented and lovely producer Jon, will make a fun team. The challenge will be remembering we’re on-air and there are actually people listening! The familiarity may prove a dangerous, albeit very entertaining, listen –
possibly probably at my expense!
So there you have it! I’ve had to keep the secret since the Autumn when talks started and we had a top-secret photo shoot just before Christmas at the gorgeous Holborn Studios, which gave us a chance for a wander along a Christmassy Oxford Street afterwards and share some bubbles to celebrate the future …. rude not to! I start in February!
I still have a couple of weeks of getting up at a normal time and THAT’S why I snuck a New Year holiday in this week – incase you noticed on Twitter! It was the calm before the storm.
Exciting times ahead! So glad I can finally talk about it!
